Decide how you want to use the screen

A second monitor can serve two different purposes. Display mode keeps an interactive TickerCanvas window focused on the map. Desktop integration places the canvas behind your normal applications and desktop icons. Choose display mode when you want to tap or inspect tiles; choose the desktop command when the monitor should remain an ordinary working desktop.

Neither option makes an independent market-data subscription for that screen. Supported clients read the same cached snapshots. Adding a monitor changes the presentation, not the number of provider collections performed by a client.

Set the desktop on the intended monitor

Move the desktop app window onto the monitor you want to configure, choose your index and view, then use Set as desktop on this screen. This avoids confusing display numbers when monitors have similar names or resolutions. The macOS menu also provides a display chooser for broader setup.

The automatic desktop uses that saved view for its later refreshes. You can keep an S&P sector canvas on one screen and use a different supported view on another. To change the saved background view, bring the app onto that monitor, adjust the canvas and set it again.

Make the information legible at a distance

Consider equal-area tiles or a smaller Top N list when the screen is farther away. Showing every company on a small or distant screen necessarily produces tiny tiles. A larger label is often more useful than a denser map. Color intensity and the accessible palette can help keep positive and negative moves distinguishable.

When you prefer an interactive screen, enter display mode. Keep awake is an optional request to the device or browser; support and operating-system policy vary. Exit display returns you to the controls. Reset filters remains available when a company focus or search makes the map too narrow.

Plan for sleep and disconnects

The desktop app checks again after waking and works with connected monitors. A disconnected screen cannot receive a new wallpaper until it is available. Restoring previous desktops uses the saved records for the configured screens. Keep a normal path to the app’s menu-bar or system-tray controls so you can open the window, restore the wallpaper or quit the background process when needed.
